For much of my life, I carried silent challenges—unseen health battles and quiet struggles that felt deeply personal. But through one of the most terrifying seasons—losing my sight—I discovered that God was preparing to use not only my voice, but my story, as a vessel for healing, testimony, and hope.
What began as a confusing, miraculous season of unexpected weight loss in late 2022 soon revealed a hidden crisis: I was diagnosed with dangerously high blood sugar, with an A1C over 15.6. It was a life-threatening moment that shook me to the core. But it was also the beginning of a new chapter.
When my eyesight faded, I experienced not just the physical loss of vision—but also a spiritual awakening. It was in the darkness, both literal and emotional, that I encountered God’s presence most vividly. The light I could no longer see with my eyes began shining in my soul.
As my world changed, I found comfort in the song “Way Maker”—it played in my heart daily, a worship anthem that became my lifeline. The lyrics “Even when I don’t see it, You’re working” took on a new, deeper meaning. I was blind—but I was not abandoned.
Healing Through Music: Singing in the Shadows
It was during this season that music became more than a career or passion—it became my ministry. Though I couldn’t see, I could still sing. And through every note, every word, I began to experience healing—not just for myself, but for others who listened.
Out of this journey, the Healing Through Music program was born. It’s more than vocal training—it’s a sanctuary. A space where people who are hurting, stuck, or disconnected can find their voice and reconnect with God. Whether you’ve faced illness, depression, fear, or loss, your voice can still be used as an instrument of healing.
Music helped me reconnect with Scripture, too. For the first time, I craved the Word of God, seeking comfort and understanding in verses I once overlooked. What once seemed complex now felt deeply personal—alive with truth and relevance.
Lessons from the Valley: Seeing with Spiritual Eyes
Losing my sight was the hardest thing I’ve ever experienced, but it also brought forth the most profound transformation. It taught me to listen more, to surrender more, to trust in God’s plan even when I couldn’t see it. I now understand what it means to walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).
Gone were the days of superficial priorities. In their place, emerged a deeper love for community, worship, and the beauty of raw authenticity. I became softer, more patient, more grounded in God’s grace. I began to lead worship differently—not just with technique, but with a heart that had been broken and rebuilt by Jesus.
The Light Still Shines
In my darkest hours, God used music to heal me. Now, I get to help others discover that same healing power. Whether you’re going through your own storm or just trying to reconnect with your purpose, remember this:
God never wastes pain. He will turn your mourning into dancing, your silence into a song.
Through Healing Through Music, I now offer not just vocal coaching, but spiritual support, faith-based inspiration, and a reminder that your voice matters—because it’s His gift to you.
